New Orleans Wedding Planning... Real Budgets

So today we have had an interesting day. We had two brides on a pretty tight budget. We talked, I got a vision for what they wanted. we sealed the deal and then we talked. Both of my brides said they weren't able to identify with the things in the magazine's because it didn't fit their budget. Our question is just because you have a small budget, does that mean you shouldn't see what you like in print. Normal people like to spend between $10-15,000 on a budget. This will NOT TRANSFORM A ROOM. lol but it will get you good food, a great photographer, a good dj (which is really important), some beautiful bouquets and well a great time had by all.

It's important to set a budget and stick to it. If you want more be honest with yourself and look at either getting a second job or asking a great aunt for the money. Lol but be honest. Nothing worse than going into debt over a day. Remember it's about the marriage not the wedding.

So what have we learned today... if you have a a budget of $15,000 or less you probably can't afford the decor you see in the magazines, REAL TALK. Get a budget and stick to it. And Be Honest with your self, insert your Wedding Planner, be honest with you and your planner. The reason why you hired them is so they could help you make your dreams come true, LET THEM.

One of the things I love the most is simple weddings.... Here are a few pictures of weddings or events that I LOVE!
This is one of our weddings... We planned it in two weeks, they had great food (shout out to WeYams Catering)
beer and wine, a free dj, and a great cake (Shout out to Nikki's Frosted Fantasies!
Simple and Perfect for them!

Notice the candles... They are just on the wood table, not in a cylinder,
no flowers, or petals... JUST CANDLES... gorgeous!

This is gorgeous... If you are going to do it... GET IT DONE! LOVE IT!

Who needs a photobooth when you can take your own pictures
with a Polaroid! LOL I love it!

Now this is simple and beautiful. The linen and chairs make the table...
Of course the water is the staple! So gorgeous!

A lot of simple pieces of glasses... simple... rustic... festive!!!

Our Event/Our Audience

On Saturday, July 6, 2013, Le Sanctuary Book Club of New Orleans will produce a scholarship fundraising event during the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, La.

This event will be an all-white affair vs. the formal luncheon that we’ve produced in past years and we’ve partnered with Dr. Stan Wiltz of Red Carpet Events to do it BIG! Introducing: Le Sanctuary Book Club and Red Carpet Entertainment Presents: A Gathering of Family and Friends…The ALL White Edition.  The daytime party is open to everyone.  Our hosts for the event will be Thomasina “GooGoo” Atkins, reality TV star and celebrity stylist AND Keenan Lewis, cornerback for the New Orleans Saints. Special invited guests include: Robert Pack, NBA Coach | Mike McKenzie, former NFL player | Deuce McAllister, former NFL player. Local businessman, Nathanael K. Scales of NKS Enterprises, serves as Honorary Chair.

The ticketed event will take place at The Stage Door Canteen, located inside The American Sector in The National WWII Museum, 945 Magazine St. in the Warehouse District from 1:00pm-4:00pm. The daytime party has a two-fold purpose. First, to raise money for Le Sanctuary’s scholarship program which benefits college bound seniors attending a Louisiana university. Secondly, this party with a purpose will give local New Orleanians and Essence Fest goers from around the world a unique Essence Music Festival experience by offering a chance to gather, fellowship and network…New Orleans style.

Angela Young, founder/president of Le Sanctuary Book Club said, “Each year we try to incorporate new and exciting experiences for our guests and this year won’t be any different.  I’m especially excited about this year because we will award book scholarships to 6 graduating seniors that are headed to a Louisiana university in the fall of 2013 and 2 first year graduate students.  Guests come from Atlanta, New York, Memphis, Houston, Dallas, Washington, DC etc.  We hope to attract people from all over the world. Our goal is to provide a great opportunity for a positive networking experience and a chance to make a difference in the lives of young people in New Orleans.”

This year marks the 9th anniversary of the gathering and we never know who’s going to stop by this party with a fantastic purpose! El Debarge (RB singer/songwriter), Wendell Pierce (Actor), Fred Hammond (Gospel singer/songwriter/producer), NO Saints and other NFL football players, Antonia “Toya” Wright (Reality TV star, best-selling author), popular radio personalities etc. are amongst the many high profilers that have been in attendance in years past.

Daphney Young, vice-president of Le Sanctuary said, “Our book club has always been a place of growth and sharing amongst women.  We promote reading because we realize the impact that literacy has in the lives of individuals. Our goal is to continue to make a difference because we are women empowered through words”.

Celebrity Supporters Quotes:

Deuce McAllister said: “I am happy to be a part of Le Sanctuary Book Club’s “give back” event. I understand that education is a critical key to success. Everyone has something to teach and the Catch 22 Foundation is glad to support this great event.”

Keenan Lewis said: “Higher education is so important for young ladies. I am the father of a little girl and I am teaching her the importance of education now. So it’s my pleasure to support Le Sanctuary Book Club and their scholarship fund.”

Dr. Stan “Big Stan” Wiltz said, “There are several times in our lives where we can do something to touch another person's life, but so often do we refuse to acknowledge that call. Well on Saturday, July 6th, don't ignore Le Sanctuary Book Club's calling and come support the beautiful young ladies that this event will touch!”

“GooGoo” said, “It breaks my heart to know that there are hardworking young adults out there who are striving for excellence, and are limited only because they lack the financial backing necessary to equip themselves on their educational journey. When the scholarship recipients prove that they want it, Le Sanctuary is there to help by providing resources. It does my heart good to be a part of such an organization. Le Sanctuary, I salute you.”

New Orleans Weddings by ForeScene Events: #TeamPhillips

MARCH 2013

Meet Joy and Al Phillips... They had a clear vision as to what they wanted and we do believe they got it right on the nose! They wanted a contemporary classic ceremony with a fun reception, and that's exactly what they got! The colors are Royal Blue and White with accents in Peacock! The venue for ceremony and reception at The Double Tree Hotel.

SEE OUR BRIDE   & JOY!

THE LIGHTED CEREMONY

The ceremony was performed by the Bride's uncle which was also very moving, since her dad is no longer with us. The cutest little butterfly girls walked down the aisle to serve as flower girls.  The decor was very contemporary with a white chuppah and a while swag with white uplighting and lit trees. We
also put sets of cylinders with floating candles all the way down the aisle... The ceremony is was beautiful! Take a look....

A GOOD OLD FASHIONED GREAT TIME

Most times we have a wedding and the couple says they just want to have a fabulous party. However, when the day comes they are so concerned about the details they forgot to have a good time! Well Mr. & Mrs. Phillips HAD A BLAST! Their guests had a blast! We all had a great time.... Great food, Liquor Infused Cupcakes, Great family, Over all  it was a great time!
